Wrongful death is a horrible thing to deal with. However, if you believe that your loved one's death was caused by negligence, malpractice, or complete inaction, you might consider filing a lawsuit. You can obtain an attorney and see if your wrongful death case is worth pursuing. Many cases have been successful, and you can find several in the news almost each and every day.

One of the most recent and most talked about wrongful death cases was the one being considered by the mother of Michael Jackson. When Michael Jackson died from a drug overdose, the initial belief was that it was accidental. Evidence since that time has proven it may have been caused by something else. In September of 2009, Michael Jackson's mother had considered filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray, the man who issued the drugs to Michael. Media outlets picked up on the story, but many problems got into the way of possibly filing a case.

That same month and year, a judge awarded a family $24 million after a man was killed by a truck that appeared to be in park, but was actually between gears. The pickup, made by Chrysler, had a defective transmission made it look as though the truck were in park, when it actually was not. This is an example of a defective product by automakers. The family claimed that the auto company not only failed to fix the problem, but also did not warn consumers about it. In fact, a year earlier, Chrysler had to pay $55 million to another family for the very same reason.

Several companies have had to pay settlements to families who have had a loved one die due to asbestos. The cancer caused by asbestos, mesothelioma, is becoming well known as grounds for a lawsuit, whether it is wrongful death or personal injury. In 2008, the Kerr Corp., a provider of dental tape, had to pay $16.25 million due to the asbestos in their product.

There are many more cases out there. If you believe you have a worthy lawsuit, talk to an attorney about filing a suit.
