Although you may never have heard of the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme, if you are a young person, you may have known of the Working Holiday Visa. This is the traditional way that young people from New Zealand, Australia, and Canada have gained access to the UK to work for a limited period of time. The Working Holiday Visa is now known as the Tier 5, and is more lenient than ever before.

With the Working Holiday Visa, the amount of time you were allowed to work was limited, but now you can stay and work for up to two years with the new visa. The primary requirement is that you are between the ages of 18 and 30 and have no dependents who are travelling with you. You must not have already travelled throughout the United Kingdom or have applied for the Youth Mobility Scheme in the past.

When you apply for this visa, you will be required to have 1,600 GBP in a bank account under your name, but you don't need a job already set up for you. You will be free to travel and get a job when and if you need it. You will be able to work in your chosen profession for up to two years.

The British High Commission is notoriously strict on reviewing the applications that they receive and because your application could be rejected for omissions or incorrect information, it is a good idea to get the assistance of a visa agency. They will help you set up your biometric scan, review all of your information and make sure that you have everything in place for your application is submitted. Once it is, it will be processed within three weeks and you will then be able to head to the UK.
