Michael’s Banquet House
Strong Family Equals
Successful Business

A strong family is the building block for a strong foundation. Or in Rick Treacy’s case it is the foundation for a successful banquet house.

A business that has been around for nearly 50 years, current Michael’s Banquet House owner Rick Treacy has taken over where the previous owners have left off, and without much struggle at all.

Since taking ownership in 1998, Treacy has continued making Michael’s Banquet House a popular venue for weddings and special events all while adding his own uniqueness. Treacy has kept Michael’s Banquet House a member of USA weddings for the 12 years he has successfully owned and operated the business.

The Capital District Wedding Association wants to extend its appreciation to Rick Treacy and his family at Michael’s Banquet House for their loyalty. We are very happy to have Treacy and his team as a member for so long.

Family owned and operated, Treacy says hi family “dynamic fits perfectly for what they do.”

“Brandy is our Events Coordinator, Siobhan is our Kitchen Manager, Juanita is our Office Manager and Marketing Director and I am the Executive Chef, the roofer, the plumber, the dishwasher, landscaper and whatever else needs to be done,” said Treacy.

He also said his 10 year old daughter and two grandsons have even mentioned an interest in working at the banquet house some day.

“In addition to our family we have a wonderful staff who we consider ‘part of the family’,” Treacy said.

Currently Michael’s Banquet House does about 60 wedding a year.

Their reception room can hold up to 400 guests for weddings, 600 for banquets and up to 1,000 for seminars and stand up events.

Hosting ceremonies on site is an added bonus for brides and grooms who don’t want to travel on their wedding day, and ones who don’t want to make their guests travel.

And with Treacy as the head chef, there is no surprise that this place is popular. Especially with his home made pasta sauce. You can find proof in his office that his sauce can compete to be the best in the area. After hosting an Italian reception a few years back, and offering his Penne Pasta Marinara as an appetizer, Treacy received a thank you note the week after the reception from the bride’s mother.

“She mentioned that her mother (the bride’s grandmother) commented on how she enjoyed the pasta, especially the sauce. It was the best sauce she ever had, aside from her own. The grandmother lives in Sicily,” Treacy said.

Enough said. Next time you are in the area, take some time and visit owner Rick Treacy at Michael’s Banquet House. Make sure you ask him for a taste of his pasta sauce!
