Known for fighting fires, not causing them, a group of Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) firefighters and lifeguards are threatening to set off some sparks this holiday season. That's because their sizzling 2011 calendar, an impressive selection of smokin' hot first-responders sporting ripped abs, spectacular pecs and bulging biceps is officially now on sale.

Two dozen local firefighters and lifeguards throughout Banderas Bay posed for the calendar, which isn't just about hunky bods, but serves as a reminder that we need to appreciate the real heroes --- firefighters and emergency workers --- who are busy saving lives and property 24-7.

The 2011 Heroes Calendar, featuring holidays in Mexico, Canada and the United States is hot off the press, and for just a $20 USD (200 pesos) donation, a great way to support the Puerto Vallarta Bomberos and raise much-needed funds for on-going training programs and life-saving equipment.

"Our hope is to sell out and raise $20,000 USD and show the community that our firefighters and lifeguards are truly committed to helping others," said fundraiser organizers.

Special thanks to those who have graciously contributed to the production of the calendar in order that 100% of the funds raised support the men and women who bravely serve the Department with honor, dignity and compassion.

Award-winning singer and songwriter, Kim Kuzma, kicked off the recent Media Launch Party festivities this week at popular local restaurant, Nacho Daddy's, with a crowd-pleasing performance of "It's Raining Men" and the official introduction of the community heroes. Over 150 members of the media and local dignitaries and sponsors were on hand and the beefcake was selling like hotcakes. In addition to live music, tasty appetizers and refreshing beverages, a 50/50 raffle added to the kick-off fun. Puerto Vallarta newcomers and Maine transplants, Brad and Mary Jones, won the drawing and eagerly donated their $350 USD winnings back to the Department in which Fire Chief Hiram Fernández Abundis graciously accepted on behalf of his 90-member team of first-responders.

The calendar is now on sale throughout Puerto Vallarta and details for sales in the US and Canada are available on the official website. Just be warned that you may need a fire hose to cool down.
