Make a Christmas charity donation

Christmas means different things to different people. For some, it’s a religious holiday. For others, it’s about celebrating the end of year festivities with families and friends. But regardless of how or why you celebrate, there’s something special about Christmas.

But this year, it’s time to think outside our friends and families and do something for those less privileged. It’s easy to get caught up in all the festive activities, gift buying and Christmas parties, but many people all over the world will never experience Christmas joy or anything nearly as sumptuous as a Christmas feast.

It is possible to alleviate many of the world’s most devastating issues. The reality of certain figures and facts can also be baffling. Did you know that every minute 54, 851 kilograms of edible food is thrown away in the United States? Yet 1 in 7 people don’t get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life. Malnutrition also causes 4.5 million children to die every year.

Without dampening the spirit of the season, issues and statistics such as these need to be considered this Christmas, because a small donation to charities such as www.actionaid.org.au can go a long way.

Most charities have Christmas donation programs for those who want to give something back this Christmas, and funds contributed will go towards development programs for impoverished children and communities in third world countries.

Christmas is the perfect time of year to make a donation – even if it’s just a small, one-off Christmas charity donation. Every dollar counts!

If you’re interested in giving more, however, then there are number of other options available such as sponsor a child programs, which are a meaningful way to make a regular charitable contribution that will have a significant impact on the life of an underprivileged child.

Quick facts

- For the cost of an iPad, you could sponsor a child for 14 months.

- For the cost of an LCD TV, you could sponsor a child for 17 months.

Whatever way you choose to donate this Christmas, give thought to those less privileged. It’s within our power to make a difference in the lives of others.

Help make Christmas special for someone else and make a Christmas charity donation.
