Car Injury - What Do You Know About Your Own Auto Accident?

By: drweisgerber | Posted: 06th August 2010

To help properly diagnose problems, you need to know what happened to you in the accident. You want to remember as much information as possible. This will also come in handy in case of criminal or civil suits that may pop up out of no where.

If you are physically able to, as soon as you are out of the wreckage, you will need to write down everything about the wreck. This is while it is all still fresh in your mind. This is when what happened will be the clearest to you. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to remember details exactly as they should have been remembered. Act fast in order to save yourself a lot of time, money, stress and pain.

Make sure that you are thinking about this ahead of time, before an auto accident ever takes place. This way, you will not be out of sorts to the point that you will be unable to record anything from the accident. If it helps, you can write out a list of questions to keep in your glove box in the event of an accident. This way , should you get into an crash, all you have to do is pull out the paper and start answering your own questions. You will not forget any main pieces of information that way.

You will want to take notes on the position of your car and any other car that was involved in the auto accident. Who caused it? What happened? From which direction were you hit? Did you get hit from many angles? If you were hit from several angles, which hit came first, second, third and so on? These questions will help determine just how your head or neck twisted or turned upon impact. This is all information that is extremely important to know. You want to get the best help available, right? To do that, you have to know as much about the accident as you can.

If you are afraid that you might be too shaken up to write everything out, carry a small digital voice recorder with you. This way, you can easily turn it on and record your own statement about everything that you remember about the accident. Not only will this prove to help you in getting better and to protect you from lawsuits or to help you file one, it will serve as great information if you were for some reason to go unconscious shortly after the accident. Your voice recording or notes of what happened may be just what is needed to save your life.
