The green card has become a major sought after tying the world over. The United States had one of the biggest economies. It provides opportunities to millions of people to realize their dream. This country provides an environment conducive to individual growth. It is much better than what is offered in their own individual countries. The socio, economic, political conditions in many countries do not allow individuals to realize their dream. The United States provides some of the best universities, colleges, research centers, job opportunities, artistic and cultural environment for people to realize their dreams.
Many people on a short stay in the country are very impressed with the lifestyles, freedom and opportunities that they want to take up permanent residence in the country. The US government offers a permanent residence to that individual who applies for the same by filling various conditions laid down by the government.
You can apply under various categories. An individual has to residence in the US for a period of five years before he or she can apply for the green card. An employment green card has three categories based on the kind of profession and skills that person has.
Green Card through family members is processed quickly when an individual is married to a green card holder or American citizen. Here the waiting period is only three years as compared to employment-based green card application.
Many a time's green card is awarded quickly to priority workers. People with special skill like in the medical department are awarded such a green card.
Another way in which people can acquire a green card is through the lottery system. The Green card lottery is provided to nationals of many countries, which do not have many applicants for permanent residence in the US. The Green card entitles the individual to live and work in the country permanently.
