Dispelling the myths around personal injury claims

Many people who have suffered a personal injury consider making a claim, but decide against doing so for a number of reasons.

Some feel they simply do not have the time to pursue compensation claims. Others worry about what others may think about them if they do. Many more are sceptical of no win no fee – assuming there must be a catch somewhere.

It is true that the personal injury claims market can be a daunting one, but National Accident Helpline are industry leaders, and as such we have a confident and knowledgeable team at the end of the phone who can quickly and simply advise anyone who calls in.

If we think a solicitor may be able to help, we’ll tell you immediately and put you in touch with a solicitor in your area. He or she will be on hand to help a claimant through the process, and will fill in most of the paperwork involved in the claim.

The stigma attached to making accident claims, fuelled by media reports of Britain’s growing ‘compensation culture’ is undeniable but unjustified. It is important to recognise that people making compensation claims are accident victims who are entitled to receive compensation. Many people are in pain or suffer financial loss after an accident through no fault of their own. Their claims succeed because over the years many people have had the courage to and been prepared to claim.

Now to address the cynics – at National Accident Helpline, there simply is no scam, or hidden costs, attached to our No Win No Fee policy.

If you don’t win your compensation claim you don’t pay anything. The solicitor handling your claim will have their own insurance policy to cover their costs if your claim is not successful.

In most cases, if you win your accident claim you will be awarded full damages, so if your compensation award is £5,000 you will receive and keep £5,000. Your solicitor’s costs will be paid by the other side and National Accident Helpline’s costs are covered by our personal injury solicitors, who pay for our service.

Neither National Accident Helpline nor your solicitor will take any of your damages.

Hopefully this article has gone some way to dispel the myths that have grown up around accident claims.
